Biography

Ranjita Mohanty is presently Head, Research and Academic Linkage Programme, Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), New Delhi , India . A political sociologist by background, her research and publication cover various dimensions of collective action around natural resource management, peoples’ movements as forms of resistance, mobilising participation in state created local institutional spaces, interface and engagement between civil society and the state, citizenship issues of marginalised communities, and the complexities of participation and democratization

Project - Reviving the Social Justice Committees – part of 'Deepening Democracy in States and Localities' Research Programme

Summary - This research projects seeks to examine the role of non-state actors in activating Social Justice Committees.
